Armen Ashotyan Opposes Anti-Armenian Campaign in Baku
1 / 1

On September 22, the Head of the RA NA Delegation to Euronest PA, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Armen Ashotyan delivered a speech in the Conference going on in Baku.

He thanked the Euronest PA Secretariat and the Azerbaijani delegation for the organisation of the conference and the invitation, and touched upon the decision of the Armenian delegation’s arrival to Baku, noting that it had been greatly conditioned by the fact that, first of all, Armenia considered itself as a bearer of the system of values of Europe and part of the family and consequently, could not be deprived of the participation and discussions of such important conference. In this context Armen Ashotyan underlined Armenia’s participation in the Euronest PA, highlighted the signing of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement.

Armen Ashotyan has also referred to a number of Azerbaijani speakers during the conference: the attempts of turning the platform of the conference for the women’s health care and social problems into anti-Armenian propaganda and has noted the Armenian delegation is in Baku for the discussion of the very themes of the conference, but not for the discussion of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

In this aspect Armen Ashotyan has also underlined the fact that in the conflicts suffer all conflicting sides, hence, it is necessary to listen to all sides and discuss the existing issues within the framework of human rights and humanity irrespective of political, ethnic and religious differences. In this context Armen Ashotyan has urged the Azerbaijani side not to feed the coming generations with Armenophobia and xenophobia, which will have its negative consequences on the whole region.

Mr Ashotyan also touched upon the problems of the formation of the anti-Armenian stereotypes in the Azerbaijani educational system and urged them to eradicate Armenophobia and xenophobia.

At the end of his speech Armen Ashotyan also conveyed to the Deputy Minister of Azerbaijan the work Azerbaijan: childhood in hate , which proves the Armenophobia and hatred campaign in Azerbaijan.
